Quality is at the heart of everything we do. So we’re pleased to announce that Zoonou has recently been awarded ISO 9001 certification for our quality management system. From the testing we deliver to the final products that go out to users, quality is central to our success. This achievement for the whole team feels like a natural progression in the growth of our business.
Zoonou’s Client Services Director, Rhodri Alexander, tells us more about what this means for the company.
Zoonou’s decision to work towards ISO 9001 accreditation.
As a supplier of testing and quality assurance, it became increasingly important to demonstrate to our clients, and to our internal team, that we are committed to high quality standards. We’re helping our clients avoid issues with quality every day, whether that’s bugs in a website or issues in a mobile app. So it’s essential that we aim for the same high levels of service.
ISO 9001 is heavily focused on ensuring you’re delivering a service that meets the demands of your customers, by having an effective and efficient management system.
As we found ourselves engaging with larger corporate and public sector bodies, it quickly emerged that we would be required to provide evidence of the systems we have in place. A large part of that is security (for which we’re currently undergoing an audit for ISO 27001), but the other core requirement was for management systems. ISO 9001 is an internationally recognised standard, so our certification is a clear and simple way to allow prospective customers to validate us as a supplier.
Hard work or a natural progression? The road to becoming accredited.
Achieving ISO certification is not an easy task by any means. However, having been in business for over a decade, a lot of our processes were at a level of maturity that meant they didn’t have to change “too” much. But we did have to make improvements and changes in several areas. We appointed a Quality Manager that led the process from start to finish, including process improvement and documentation, as well as internal training and awareness.
ISO 9001 isn’t just about your procedures though. It’s also about how you maintain, monitor and improve what you’re doing through internal audits, management reviews and identification of non-conformities. Being compliant means we need to ensure we continue to put quality management systems at the heart of our everyday operations.
Nick Turton, Managing Director, added:
Achieving the ISO standard 9001 for Quality Management Systems is a reflection of the hard work and continuing commitment to quality shown by the team at Zoonou. Ensuring we have robust systems in place helps us maintain an efficient and controlled flow of projects through the business. It gives us and our clients confidence in our delivery process. Having measurable quality objectives and openly encouraging feedback from internal and external parties means we’re able to track our progress and make improvements that have a genuinely positive impact on our software testing and quality assurance services.
Being ISO 9001 compliant.
From a day-to-day perspective, being compliant means that we have processes and procedures that we follow to maintain high standards of delivery for all our customers. That is genuinely the most important factor.
We’ve implemented a system that means that team members’ regular responsibilities haven’t changed too much, but that they’re now much more aware of how their role and what they do fits into the broader picture of our management system and how it helps us to achieve our end goals and provide the best service to our clients.
Having a certified ISO badge on our website and marketing materials may seem a bit like box ticking, but in truth it’s more than that. It demonstrates to our clients (and potential clients) that we’re serious about the work we do and how we do it. It shows that we have a system that focuses on continual improvement with commitment from our senior management team.
