Zoonou gains Cyber Essentials certification

Cyber Essentials is a UK government backed scheme that certifies an organisation has in place the controls it needs to protect itself against cyber-attacks.

Zoonou is pleased to announce it has gained Cyber Essentials certification from the IASME Consortium in May 2017.  Cyber Essentials is a UK government backed scheme that certifies an organisation has in place the controls it needs to protect itself against cyber-attacks.

It’s important because Cyber Essentials helps businesses and organisations protect themselves against the vast majority of attacks and also demonstrates to customers, insurers and investors that preventative measures are in place.

In the UK, Cyber Essentials is a basic requirement for anyone wanting to do business with government and local authorities. In fact, from October 2014, it has been ‘a requirement that all suppliers bidding for certain sensitive and personal information handling contracts to be certified against the Cyber Essentials scheme’.

The five controls that Cyber Essentials assesses are:

  1. Boundary firewalls and internet gateways
  2. Secure configurations
  3. Access control
  4. Malware protection
  5. Patch management

Nick Turton, the managing director of Zoonou said:

“As we take the business forward towards working with new clients, especially the public sector, we need to have in place certain markers that make it easier for those clients to assess who we are and what we do. Cyber Essentials is one of those important markers.”
