Our journey started in 2007... the rest is history

  1. 2007

    After working in-house as QA engineers for over 7 years, Nick and Jonathan decided it was a great time to offer their skills and expertise to a range of companies. Zoonou was founded in February 2007.

  2. 2013

    The Board of Directors expanded. Garry joined as Commercial Director and Rhodri joined as Client Services Director.

  3. 2015

    We rebranded the company. Keeping the purple and green from our original brand we wanted to visualise how we take projects from A to B.

  4. 2016

    We sponsored Huddle - Eastbourne’s first Creative Digital Technology mini conference.

  5. 2017

    After working with a number of Public Sector clients and seeing the success of our partnerships we became a Crown Commercial Service supplier and listed our services on G Cloud.

  6. 2017

    We entered the Eastbourne Business Awards and won Medium Business of the Year!

  7. 2017

    We celebrated our 10th birthday!

  8. 2018

    Having already been in four different locations over the decade, the team was once again growing beyond the capacity of our limited office space. We were part of a restoration project to turn a derelict building into a high specification office.

  9. 2019

    We announced our partnership with the Royal National Institute for Blind People (RNIB) to provide disabled user testing, for websites and mobile apps, as part of our digital accessibility services.

  10. 2019

    UKAS - the sole national accreditation body recognised by the UK government - awarded us ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certifications. 

  11. 2020

    We're awarded CREST member status for our penetration testing service. It provides our clients with the confidence that our service is delivered by industry experts to proven methodologies and demonstrable quality assurance processes.

  12. 2020

    We hosted a workshop with Mencap and Elvis exploring the benefits of digital accessibility and user testing.

  13. 2021

    As a further demonstration of our commitment to data security, we achieved Cyber Essential Plus certification - the highest level of certification offered under the Cyber Essentials scheme. 

  14. 2021

    We navigated the COVID 19 pandemic. We continued to grow, deliver great work for our clients and adjusted to remote working.

  15. 2022

    We sponsored the Creative / Digital Industries award at Eastbourne Business Awards.

  16. 2022

    The year of two Christmas parties, lots of picnics in the park and a team sports day!

  17. 2023

    We celebrated our sweet 16 at the Towner gallery!

  18. 2023

    After almost 11 years without a change to our Board of Directors, Rhodri and Jonathan stepped down (and joined our Board of Trustees). Cass, Mike and Elliott were promoted to the Board to bring fresh perspective and new voices to the way Zoonou is run.

  19. 2023

    Following 15 years of sustained growth, succession planning and shareholder exists were important decisions of our then Board of Directors. After considering trade sales and private equity investments we transitioned to an employee-owned business in June 2023 - the start of a new chapter at Zoonou.

  20. 2023

    As part of our transition to employee ownership, we established a Board of Trustees whose sole purpose is to represent the interests of our team.

  21. 2023

    We announced our partnership with Purple Goat Agency. The partnership is focused on improving access to digital experiences; creating a genuine impact on the lives of disabled people.

  22. 2023

    We collectively walked the equivalent distance of Land's End to John O'Groats and back to raise money for SpecialEffect.

  23. 2024

    We elect our first Employee Council to represent our employee-owners. They ensure that ideas and feedback are considered in strategic decisions and company policies.

  24. 2024

    Open and transparent communication is the foundation of a positive and empowered company culture. We certify as a Great Place To Work™.

  25. 2024

    Being a good company isn’t about what we say - it’s about what we do, and how we hold ourselves accountable. We became a certified B Corp to keep us accountable for the choices we make and the impact we have - as a business and as individuals.

  26. 2024

    With our renewed vision and mission, and our status as an employee-owned B Corp, we’ve partnered with Yoyo to rebrand the company.

  27. 2025

    Zoonou is old enough to drink! We celebrate our 18th birthday!
