What attracted you to Zoonou?
I really like the general Zoonou ethos. The company values resonated with me, especially ‘curiosity’ and ‘positivity’, both of which reflect the way I like to approach things. Additionally, working for an employee-owned business which is also a BCorp is a total step away from my usual world, and I was keen to see what a difference those things might make at a company. Pleased to report it’s an incredibly positive one.
What excites you the most about leading the sales team?
Probably the opportunity to have a real impact on both the business and the people in the team. Sales always has the thrill of closing deals and hitting targets, but if you’re going to succeed, you need a really good group of people to help you get there. Luckily Zoonou has that, and I’m keen to work with them to unlock new opportunities, build strong client relationships, and continue to grow a culture where everyone is engaged and motivated to succeed.
How do you see employee ownership impacting today’s business environment?
I think when everyone has a stake in the company’s success, it drives the whole business towards a common goal, and there’s a sense of building good things, together. We live in pretty challenging times at the moment, and I believe that any way of working that encourages trust and collaboration is a positive thing. Employee ownership does that in a really effective way.
What did you do before you joined us?
I’ve worn many hats prior to joining Zoonou! I worked at several media companies (newspapers and radio) across partnership and sales teams. I have also run marketing departments at clients such as Viking River Cruises and P&O Ferries and have experienced agency life at SWC Partnership and Three Monkey Design. I’ve been freelancing for the last five years or so, which also means I have been lucky enough to work with a huge variety of different brands and companies as a consultant and a contractor on various elements of their business.
What does being a part of a B Corp company mean to you?
It’s really good to know I’m working for a business which has made a full commitment to making a positive impact on a whole raft of things including people, the community and the environment. Knowing that what you’re doing at work is contributing to something bigger than just you and your everyday is a pretty motivational, positive feeling.
What do you get up to outside the world of work?
Mostly hanging out with the husband, cats and chickens in the garden. I also enjoy a decent BBQ with friends, trying new craft ales, the occasional wander around a National Trust property and a good pub walk. Running and gymming also feature, but not as heavily as they should do, given the beer and BBQ’s…
