Helping Blatchford build and scale its digital health QA capability
What we delivered
As Blatchford expanded its digital health teams, we helped build the testing capability, processes and automation needed to deliver new features with greater confidence.
Blatchford is a manufacturer of advanced prosthetic and orthotic technology, helping people with limb differences move with greater independence.
Its microprocessor-controlled knees and feet use sophisticated technology to respond to movement, while its digital health products support the wider experience of using and managing these devices.
Building a QA capability alongside growing engineering teams
Blatchford was investing in its digital technology, bringing together new engineering teams to deliver an ambitious product roadmap. But as development capacity grew, its software testing capability needed to keep pace.
The team needed more than additional testers - they wanted to establish processes, expertise and test coverage that could support its digital health products as they developed.
With limited testing capacity internally and several areas of testing to consider, Blatchford partnered with us to help build and scale its QA capability.
We needed a partner who could help us build and scale our test capability quickly across multiple testing domains. We knew we wouldn’t be able to do this quickly enough on our own, and this is why we came to Zoonou.
Building the foundations for better releases
We worked alongside Blatchford's engineering teams, combining hands-on testing with practical support to develop its QA processes.
Our work covered functional and penetration testing, alongside the development and maintenance of an automated testing solution. Together, these activities helped establish broader requirements coverage across Blatchford's app and web portal, giving the team a more consistent way to assess new features and identify issues before release.
As the relationship developed, we adapted our support around Blatchford's changing priorities, helping its team strengthen its own testing practices rather than simply relying on external test execution.
We now have a much improved and mature testing process. This allows us to share new features quicker and helps us to manage our releases more effectively, with confidence through much broader test coverage.
Fewer surprises, better experiences
The improvements went beyond internal processes.
Broader test coverage and clearer reporting helped Blatchford's developers understand what needed attention before release. Our testers also identified less obvious issues that might otherwise have reached the people using its products.
I’ve worked with many other external QA companies, but they only do as they’ve been asked. Zoonou go way beyond that - they are proactive with suggestions and ideas to how to improve processes. That’s what makes this such a great partnership.
For Blatchford, the result was a more mature QA capability, better-managed releases and greater confidence in the quality of its digital health products.
And as its technology and engineering teams continue to develop, it has the testing processes and expertise in place to support what comes next.
