Keeping Buddhify running smoothly across iOS and Android

Mindfulness Everywhere is the company behind Buddhify, an award-winning meditation app designed to make mindfulness part of everyday life.

Rather than asking people to set aside time for traditional meditation, Buddhify offers guided experiences for different moments throughout the day, whether commuting, taking a break or winding down. As its popularity grew, the team wanted to keep developing the app while maintaining the simple, calming experience its users valued.

Keeping the experience simple as Buddhify grew

For an app built around mindfulness, the experience of using it matters just as much as the content itself. Buddhify needed to work reliably across different phones and operating systems, with new features fitting naturally into the experience people already knew.

But with updates being released regularly across iOS and Android, the team needed a testing approach that could respond quickly to changes without slowing development.

Mindfulness Everywhere partnered with us to bring independent testing into its release process, helping identify issues before updates reached its growing community.

Testing that kept pace with new features

We used an exploratory functional testing approach that gave our testers the flexibility to investigate new functionality, follow unexpected user journeys and respond quickly as updated builds became available.

Testing across a broad range of real iOS and Android devices was particularly important. People used Buddhify in different settings and on different phones, so the team needed confidence that the experience remained consistent.

Our device library allowed Mindfulness Everywhere to select relevant mobile environments without having to maintain all that hardware itself. This gave its developers practical feedback throughout development, helping them address issues and keep releases moving.

Making room for a growing community

As Buddhify continued to develop, our testing supported the introduction of new features designed to bring users closer together. These included Transmission, a guide to leading meditation yourself, and Together, a collection of video courses and stories from the Buddhify community.

Both features expanded what people could do within the app while supporting its wider aim of making mindfulness more accessible in everyday life.

At the time of the original case study in 2018, Buddhify had been used by hundreds of thousands of people worldwide and had supported more than 70 million minutes of meditation.

Our role was to help Mindfulness Everywhere maintain quality as the app evolved, giving its team the flexibility to introduce new experiences while keeping the needs of its users in focus.
