Embedding five QA testers to support the launch of a major streaming platform
What we delivered
Working as part of Candyspace’s delivery team for nine months, our testers provided QA across web, mobile and TV from development through to post-launch.
Candyspace specialises in designing, building and optimising digital products. The team was commissioned to completely rebuild a TV streaming platform for a major global broadcaster.
Designed to run across web, iOS, Android and Apple TV, the platform introduced a new technical and user architecture, underpinned by enhanced data capabilities.
With a tight delivery timeline and a complex mix of platforms and devices to cover, Candyspace needed QA capacity that could scale quickly and work as part of its existing delivery team.
Scaling the QA team for launch
We quickly scaled a team of five full-time testers, who were embedded within Candyspace's delivery team for nine months. Our testers joined daily stand-ups, sprint planning and team calls, working directly with developers and project leads throughout delivery.
Being part of the team meant issues could be identified, discussed, fixed and retested quickly, without introducing unnecessary handovers or slowing the pace of development.
It also gave Candyspace flexible access to additional QA capacity during a demanding period of delivery, while keeping testing closely connected to the wider project.
Testing across web, mobile and TV
Delivering a consistent streaming experience meant testing across a wide range of devices, operating systems, screen sizes and hardware configurations.
Throughout development, we tested across smart TVs, mobile phones, tablets and web browsers. Our approach combined functional testing of core user journeys with compatibility testing across supported environments.
We also carried out system integration testing to check communication between front-end interfaces and back-end services, alongside testing UI responsiveness, cross-platform synchronisation and playback stability under different network conditions.
This gave Candyspace ongoing visibility of quality across the platform as it moved towards launch, with issues identified and fed back while development was still moving.
Keeping quality moving beyond launch
Our involvement continued after the platform went live as Candyspace introduced new features and enhancements. Regression testing across core user journeys and critical functionality helped the team understand whether changes had affected existing behaviour across supported platforms.
By continuing to work alongside Candyspace after launch, our testers provided consistent QA knowledge as the platform evolved and gave its development team additional capacity to keep releases moving.
"I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to the team who have worked so effectively with us for the last nine months. The collaboration has been a real success, and this says a lot about how you performed and integrated with our team."
