Announcement: Disabled User Testing in Partnership with the RNIB

Our partnership with the RNIB enables us to provide disabled user testing, for websites and mobile apps, as part of our Accessibility Testing Service.

As a test company our goal is to help our clients build digital products that offer a positive, meaningful user experience for everyone, regardless of their ability or disability. At its core, the web should be accessible to everyone and this is why we are excited to formally announce our partnership with the Royal National Institute for Blind People (RNIB). Through this partnership we provide disabled user testing in addition to our WCAG compliance and assistive technology testing and expert workshops, to provide a complete Accessibility Testing Service.

Disabled user testing is essential to achieve a comprehensive accessibility evaluation of a product. It offers invaluable feedback and insight from real users that will allow significant, informed improvements to be made to a product. Our partnership with the RNIB enables us to recruit people with a range of accessibility requirements, including visual, motor or cognitive impairments, as well as being able to draw on the RNIB’s years of experience conducting user testing.

Disabled User Testing

A representative panel of users, with a wide range of technical experience, test user journeys while trying to complete a set of realistic tasks and provide live feedback on the product during a consultant led session. With dedicated usability labs at the RNIB offices in London and Peterborough, for easy access from throughout the UK, our clients can watch the live testing but we also provide a video recording of the sessions along with a written report highlighting any issues raised and recommendations to address them once the user testing is complete.

The whole team at Zoonou are excited to see this partnership continue to develop, Rhodri – our Client Services Director commented:

“The partnership with the RNIB is an extremely exciting opportunity for Zoonou, and more importantly is a meaningful step towards greater awareness of digital accessibility in our industry. The RNIB’s disabled user testing compliments our expert WCAG audits and assistive technology testing to create what we believe is a unique relationship between the testing industry and a charity partner.

Being able to demonstrate to our clients the real experience users face can be invaluable in the development and evolution of their products. In the decade we’ve been operating, we’ve seen digital accessibility go from a “nice-to-have” to an essential requirement for many of the organisations we work with. This initiative is a crucial advancement in this progress.”

And William – our Head of Accessibility – who heads up developing our accessibility service offering added:

“Disabled user testing is essential to ensuring that a user’s accessibility needs are met, it can highlight issues that won’t be picked up by WCAG audits and enlightens project managers and developers with a greater understanding of how disabled users interact with their application. At the end of the testing clients receive a full report detailing any issues observed and actionable steps for resolution, they are also provided recordings from the session that can be referenced during development and used internally for training.

Being able to work with the RNIB to deliver this kind of testing allows Zoonou to offer something unique, that many of our competitors are unable to offer and I look forward to working them over the coming years to see what other unique and beneficial offerings we can create.”
