Get to know the Zoonou Team! This series of blog posts introduces you to our expert Testers and Client Services Team.

Introducing Michael, one of our Test Analysts – a lover of watches and Tunnock’s Tea Cakes!

What does a typical day involve?

A typical day includes speaking to a client on a daily stand up, raising bugs and managing tickets within the chosen issue tracker. The day ends with our daily report which is a summary of the daily activities and a list of some of the most important issues that have been found. And of course, the most important task of the day is raiding the snack drawer for the best treats! 😉

What is the best thing about working at Zoonou?

The people. There is such a variety of different personalities and backgrounds! It’s great when we all get together for team events, especially when there is a competitive element!

What are the most enjoyable aspects of your job?

The most enjoyable aspect of my job is being able to work on a variety of new and exciting projects. I have worked on campaigns for popular food companies as well as clothing and motorsport companies. These types of projects are interesting and it’s exciting to see new products or services before they are publically released!

What skills are essential to your job?

Essential skills include the ability to look at things objectively and the ability to learn new skills. But, one of the most important attributes is having an eye for detail.

What tools do you use on a daily basis?

We use issue trackers like Jira and software such as TestRail or Google Sheets for tracking our scripts and the running of our tests. Often, we also use tools provided by clients in order to carry out a specific piece of testing.

What advice would you give someone new to testing?

When you are testing a website or mobile app try and imagine you are using the site as an end user, what kinds of functions would a user be carrying out? And what would a user expect to happen in a given scenario?

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside of work I enjoy playing video games and also learning new skills or songs for the guitar. I also have a 4-year-old Pug named Doug who I enjoy taking out for walks or to the local pub.

What is your favourite blog?

Hodinkee, it started as a small watch blog but has now expanded into a full website, where they discuss watches from new to old, and anything to do with watches in general. I find mechanical watches really interesting – they are extremely varied in features, with some having very elaborate mechanical functions such as a tourbillon or minute repeater.

If you could time travel, where would you go?

That’s a tough one as I like so many eras! But, I would probably go for the late 70s as there was so much great music that followed in that time period. You can’t beat Van Halen! Although, a close second would be the 90s!
